"RAPTURED TO MARS" : the new Earth 1.0% (while the 99% get 'LEFT BEHIND')

      The oddballs that make up the visible 1/10th of the denier/birther/spacer (non-melting) iceberg are not exactly from that cohort's top drawer.
      Everyone admits this, even the spacers - but no one is exactly sure why.
      Why have your artillery fire fruitcakes at the cast-hardened massed armour of the left-liberal-scientific establishment, if you really truly deny global climate and environmental disaster?
      Where are the heavy-lifting-ready brains and the real heavy money of the denier/birther/spacer movement?

    Switch from the few media pages devoted to the climate wars and observe all the uncritical pages in the samestream media  devoted to an outbreak of uncontrolled private space efforts.
    Could it be that the parade of fruitcakes on the climate change denier/birther/spacer front are just a tactical smokescreen, to divert the attention of the 99%, while the 1% and their wannabes plan a clean getaway?
    I believe "The 1%" have already decided, privately, that global environmental depletion is real - the Earth is played out, mineral and energy-wise.
    Time to toss it aside like a used trophy wife, condom or unwanted Christmas puppy - move on , re-invest.
   In the new Earth 1.0 % : a terraformed colony on Mars.
   This will be a gated community : only Ayrans or people with enough wealth and education to pass as honorary Ayrans will be allowed to join.

      The RED planet will become the WHITE planet: "The South Will Rise Again!"

       (Ever notice that almost all of NASA is in the Deep South and its biggest fans are Southern Baptists ?)

    The price of a space ticket to Mars, let alone the price of a nice condo on Mars, will put it well out of the reach of the dark, colored, foreign,garlic-smelling 99%.
   They can have the depleted Earth 1.0 - free, gratis.
    Let them boil and bake under those dense greenhouse skies - We're Off to See the Wizard !

"DENIER LIT" : 'Hard' SF

     We think we know what women like to read - we claim it is something called "CHICK LIT". So what do deniers/birthers/spacers - call 'em what you will - read ?
    Can the jokes about them being unable to read, or only reading with their fingers while breathing through their mouths as the knuckles of their other hand grazes the ground , ape-style.
   These guys do read - a lot. A lot more than their younger critics probably do.
   I think we will find that they read 'Hard SF' and its close cousins - with authors like Robert Heinlein, Tom Clancy and Michael Crichton high in their Pantheon of author-prophets.

   It isn't polite today to claim that anyone other than some long dead foreign Nazis believes in "The Triumph of the human Will" - so we have had to re-brand it as "the ultimate triumph of the human spirit" , for these guys and their boy-fans.
    Nice word 'spirit'  : particularly for a bunch of perpetual teenage boys who claim to be either religious and to despise atheists or to be atheists who despise the religious.
     Both types of 'hardcore' SFers are content to wallow in a form of softcore quasi-spirtuality, totally devoid of any hardcore of orthodoxy and doctrine.
   If high American literature - from Hawthorne onward was a critic of Americanism, this genre SF ( along with all manner of 'adventure' books: westerns,spy and war) is 100% patriotic American.
   Roth and his ilk, they say, is read and written by liberal Democrats: we are read and written by conservative (ie Liberal)/libertarian Republicans.
    DENIER LIT : filling the popular genre bins of what is left of your local bookstores: pick one or ten up today......

Deniers: if they LIE to you about their funding, they'll LIE to you about global warming as well

      Trust me on this one, will ya ?
      If a blogger or website (be it a denier, birther or spacer  site) won't tell where all their funds come from, in detail, they are hiding something they are ashamed of.
    And that something is frequently the fact their opinion is not in fact their own, but rather something stuffed in their mouth --- in exchange for 30 pieces of very big silver.

   Judas-the-astroturfer is alive and well and living in America.
   So where then do the funds come from that keep my blog and print edition afloat?
   Well the SVE blogsite is free from Google.com and I pay my own library fines and buy the paper and ink for my home printer from my own 'allegedly fabulous' paycheque.
   Here is last year's tax return for me to show that the income I possess is not exactly in the same league as the Koch Brothers, but it is sufficient for me and my blog.
       Now let's see if all the funders of the infamous denier think tank headed by Benny Peiser have the guts to do likewise.
      But apparently, according the Peiser 'think tank', the UK is sludged full with conservative chappies who are just too scared stiff to be able to face public comment, if they were forced to reveal that they fund Peiser's group.
   Crikey, what yellow-bellied scum-suckers they are - today's exact moral equivalents of the original Cliveden Set 'think tank' .
     No wonder then that Canadians lads, like my dad, had to go over and save the Queen from the Nazis during WWII --- the local upper class twits were just too cowardly to do it on their own....

  

You can never push a denier to water: only lead him gently with a dollar sign ...

    If solar cells had been introduced at 1950s era electric utility shareholders' AGMs by CEOs proclaiming, "They'll double our profits overnight !!", they be in mass use by now.
     Thomas Edison's light bulbs* were an instant world wide hit, despite being 100 times less efficient at converting electricity into light than current solar panels are at converting light into electricity.
   100 times more efficient !!! One hundred times !!!

    But you yawn and get into your SUV - "solar panels are unproven, much like those contested claims about 'carbon pollution in the atmosphere' ."
    Deny,deny,deny.
   In fact, the problem with solar panels is that they were actually introduced as something you would have to make do with, like it or not, when Mommy Nature refuses give you any more hydrocarbon Kool-aid.
   You don't like being told what to do (or even worse) being told you can't do everything.
    Who can blame you?  Your doting parents, teachers and politicians never told you anything like that, growing up .....

      * Readily available solar panels' efficiency - typical case - are currently about 15%. Edison's typical early light bulb was .15% efficient.
     Both have gotten a lot better from their earliest days - but marvel at how high the initial solar panel efficiency was - versus the hostility to it from the deniers,birthers, flat-earthers, tea partiers.
   The Sky Gods and Deny-Me-Nots and SF fans are not to be placated by mere Mammon, unless and until it also re-affirms their right to do whatever, whenever,however, wherever they want : they still are in denial , still claiming that human potential throughout our vast universe is essentially limitless.
